Summer Camp Week 5: Zoology

🐯

In our Zoology studies this week the children learned about animals from all over the globe from elephants in Africa, to tigers in India, to squirrels in our own backyard. Studying the different types of animals gives the children a chance to examine and classify the world around them. They see the different environmental factors such as the flora and fauna that they need to survive, keeping their ecosystems in balance.

The Elementary and Middle School students enjoyed visiting the Luray Zoo this afternoon. They found out about snakes, crocodiles, monkeys, emus, ostriches, and all sorts of animals. One of their most important lessons was how to recognize when animals are giving off signs to not approach them and to stay away. A valuable lesson for all!
