Classroom Notes - Jr. High
October 30, 2017
So over the last several weeks your students have been very busy. Taking field trips to Richmond where they went to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and saw an exhibit on the Native American. While in the museum students were asked to sketch one of their favorite pieces by Mary Cook. They were very good! We also walked around the city and admired many buildings with murals painted on the side.
On Friday we celebrated Pumpkin Fest. Your students began planning for this about a month ago. We had all the games decided, the prizes ordered and the food list ready to prepare. Thanks to all of their hard work Pumpkin Fest was a great success. All of our students did very well manning their game or doing their "job" for the afternoon and a lot of fun was had by all!! I'm hoping to have some pictures to share shortly.
Most recent was the team building high ropes course we did today at the 4H center. The students first worked with an individual on how to communicate and analyze situations that needed teamwork to get from point a to point b. They did very well! Then it was on to some zip lining. The students first had to climb a ladder (not sure I could do that), then walk across a cable to the platform that let you zip line to another platform. Every one gave it a try and was so enthusiastic! While one individual was the climber the other students were either the spotters or the ladder holder. You will find some pics attached and a separate email with a video attached.
